DETAILED WEATHER FORECAST

May 24, 2013 Updated 10:15 PM

Forecast Discussion

Clouds have increased this evening and an area of rain to our west will bring scattered showers for later tonight. This warm front responsible for the rain will stall out in Minnesota and Iowa overnight.

After a few morning showers on Saturday, it does appear the afternoon will be mainly dry, but cloudy. That's going to make for a cool start to Memorial Day weekend with highs only around 60.

For Sunday, it's possible the clouds may thin out just a bit to get more in the way of some sunshine to mix in with the clouds. That should hopefully lead to a boost in temperatures. Unfortunately, not a big boost. Sunday looks to be the driest day of the weekend. However, areas in Minnesota and south of I-90 could see some rain in the afternoon. Temperatures warm up a bit for Memorial Day, but there will be slight chance for some showers, mainly in the afternoon and evening. None of the weekend is a washout, but it's definitely not ideal beginning of summer weather.

Tuesday is looking storm as a surge of warmer air lifts north. That will make for a warm Wednesday with highs getting into the 80s. The warm weather sticks around, but it will keep things active with thunderstorm chances Thursday and Friday.

Have a great holiday weekend!
