EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Tuesday more than 100 nine-year-old's got to learn the ropes of safety at a free camp offered annually by Mayo Clinic Health System.
At the Eau Claire Safety Camp '13 kids had an opportunity to learn from health providers and other local experts about many safety topics, including first aid, fire, seat belts, weather and more.
Injury Prevention Coordinator Kelsey Rau says the valuable lessons are taught in a fun playful environment.
"All the presentations are hands on, so they're (kids) not sitting around at a lecture, they get to participate, do a lot of fun stuff," said Rau.
The Eau Claire Safety Camp will continue Wednesday where kids will learn about boat and water safety.
The Chippewa Safety Camp will take place on Thursday at Irvine Park.
