Part of Business 53 buckles in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, WIS (WEAU)— Part of business 53 in Eau Claire was closed Sunday after the road buckled.
The buckle happened in the southbound lanes near Melby Street. City crews closed the road and diverted traffic to Anderson Drive. It is expected to remain closed until one Monday afternoon.
Experts say when the road surface heats up it will expand and that can break the road. Concrete like on Business 53 is a little more rigid and is more likely to buckle than asphalt.
