Mom of Four
I am a mom of four girls, and I gained weight with each pregnancy. I tried other diets in the past, and I lost weight but quickly gained it back. I was not focused on nutrition, but I focused on having enough "points" to have ice cream every day. Needless to say, the weight came back quickly as soon as I stopped dieting due to my poor habits.
At my highest weight, I weighed what I was when I was full term pregnant with twins. I knew I needed to do something different. I had a lack of energy, low self esteem, and terrible eating habits. A friend told me about PWLC and encouraged me to check it out. In April 2011, I began the program, and it changed my life.
I learned how to eat healthier, including how to give my body 100% nutrition…not empty calories. I surpassed my original goal weight by 25 pounds. To date, I have lost 75 pounds and 99 inches!! I have been on a maintenance program for seven months and have been able to keep my body fat and BMI within a healthy range for my height and age. I went from a size 16 to a size 6!!
I feel more confident and energized. I am able to do many things that I could not do when I was 75 pounds heavier. The most amazing thing to me is that I joined a local running group. I started by running up and down my driveway, and now I can run over 3 miles. My girls are very active in sports, and I now enjoy being active with them. I'm not ashamed to take them to the local swimming pool or even to wear shorts!
PWLC has taught me how to eat healthy foods and healthy portions. I learned a lot about metabolism and how sodium affects my body, as well as many other healthy tips. It is a privilege for me to work at PWLC now, as I am able to use my experiences to help others through their weight loss journey. I love helping others through their struggles with weight loss and healthy eating. It is an honor, and I hope to be an inspiration to others.
