Every member of the Green Bay Packers defense should receive a game ball after Sunday's dominating performance of the Dallas Cowboys.  I must admit that I'm NOT entirely surprised by the victory, because in the NFL, when teams have their backs up against the wall (like a caged tiger), they often times play with URGENCY, and that brings out the best in players.  However, while the defense was magnificent, the offense (and notably the offensive line) was not good.  Perhaps it's an improvement that the o-line only gave up four sacks to a very good Dallas defense.  It's still four too many.  Aaron Rodgers continues to take a beating, and Rodgers continues to get up.  That and the fact that running back Ryan Grant is running hard are positives right now.  If only #12 had time to throw the football, then the Packers offense could strike fear into opposing defenses.

The Packers' Charles Woodson again displayed why he'll be going to the Pro Bowl, he was tremendous on Sunday with a lot of help from his friends.  Nick Barnett showed that he is all the way back from last year's knee injury, and the defensive line led by Cullen Jenkins forced Tony Romo into a bad game.  It's really a shame that Dallas scored a touchdown in the final minute of the game because the Packers defense deserved a shutout.

So a week after a terrible loss against Tampa Bay, the Packers respond with a terrific win over Dallas.  Green Bay is 5-4 in what has become a very competitive NFC wild card race.  Here's a look at the NFC standings after 10 weeks.

New Orleans 9-0, Minnesota 8-1, Dallas 6-3, Arizona 6-3.  Those are your division leaders.  After that, it's a mad scramble for the two wild card spots.  Green Bay 5-4, Atlanta 5-4, Philadelphia 5-4, N.Y. Giants 5-4, Carolina 4-5, San Francisco 4-5, Chicago 4-5.  One game separates six teams battling for those two playoff berths.

The Packers remaining schedule is challenging, but the next two games are huge for their chances.  If Green Bay can beat San Francisco at home this Sunday, and then go to Detroit on Thanksgiving and get another win, the Packers will be 7-4.  Their final five games are home against Baltimore, at Chicago, at Pittsburgh, home against Seattle, and at Arizona.  If the Packers win three of those games, that's 10 wins and gets them into the playoffs.  I don't think 9 wins will get in, but all depends on how those other teams do down the stretch.

Maybe the Packers will point to the Tampa game as the turning point of the season.  They hit rock bottom and the only place was to go up.  Beating Dallas was a start, and a good one.    Your thoughts?
