You won't see any purple on the Eau Claire Cavaliers uniforms, but you will see many players that used to wear purple for the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes and now are mainstays of the Cavs roster.

Cavaliers Manager Mark McHorney says "Four years ago as the Cavs manager I said I wanted to get more local kids playing. It's been a goal for myself, whether it is Memorial, North or Regis, we want to get more of those kids into the program."

Will Fadness and Jacob Peterson are two of of the newest players to make the move from the Old Abes to the Cavaliers.

"It's nice to be able to comeback and play with your friends again after being away from them at college." says First year Cav's pitcher Jacob Peterson and adds "It's nice to comeback and see familiar faces."

"Teams always here, and it was in the past, and hopefully will be in the future." says Fadness. "Knowing after high school if you want to keep playing baseball in the summer you can come and play with the Cavs."

This latest influx of Old Abes is just a continuation f the the player pipeline from Memorial to the Cavaliers like Matt Miller "Bringing the area guys around here brings a better fan base and stuff like that. Carrying on the tradition of Memorial and North guys it's neat."

It's also familiar surroundings and people that make playing for the Cabs easier for Peterson. "This was our home field for Memorial so I am used to the field and when you come into the dugout and know some players from Memorial and also the Big Rivers. It's pretty comforting knowing you will be playing with people you know"

For Will Fadness, playing with the Cavs is all in the family "Playing with a bunch of the guys, and you know I have my brothers on the team made playing with the Cavs a lot easier. Obviously we started out with a lot of chemistry from the get go and it made the team much better"

And if it ever came down to the young guys playing the veterans on the diamond, who would get the upper hand? Matt Miller has an opinion "I would go for us older guys who have stuck around and really love the game"
