Artist Reception: Thursday, February 22, 5 to 7pm
Alexandria “Alex" Mooney Jones has always been drawn to experimental mediums and "thinking outside the box,” thanks in large part to her mother who was an art teacher. Her mother taught Alex to see artistic potential in everything. During the summer of 2007, a simple suggestion on how to deal with a difficult project was the "spark" that has ignited Alex's current body of work - experimenting with pyrotechnics (a.k.a. fireworks) as an artistic medium. Her work is at the mercy of explosives and fire. Each piece has bright, vibrant colors, but not a drop of paint was used to create the images. The colors left behind are created by the exploding fireworks.

LeAnn Nelson finds inspiration for her forms, textures, and colors in the beauty of nature. This Chippewa Valley native is driven by functionality and wants each piece she creates to be used and loved. Originally a jewelry designer, she became fascinated by ceramics 4 years ago and opened Pine Harbor Studio a year and a half ago as a way to show and sell her pottery. Since then she has been involved in cultivating local artists around the Chippewa Valley giving them an outlet for shows and exposure. For her its all about bringing people together and building an artist community. No cost for admission to the exhibit.
