Lymphedema Management

Event Dates and Times

3/5/2018 - Starts: 8:00 AM - Ends: 5:00 PM
Florian Gardens - 2340 Lorch Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54701
This is a one day course on Lymphedema Management. Edema presents many challenges and frustrations to the medical practitioner and the patient. This course will help participants recognize lymphedema as well as understand the rationale and the essential therapies needed to treat it successfully.

Participants will learn the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system as well as how to determine the etiology of edema. The clinical assessment and treatment skills taught in this course can be applied by various practitioners in a variety of clinical settings.
Hands‐on exercises will help participants learn and demonstrate compression bandaging, simple exercises, and basic lymph drainage skills.

Case studies will also be used to further develop participants' problem solving skills on how to most effectively manage patients with edema issues.

This course is attractive to medical Practioners because there is a knowledge and skills gap in this area. This leads to missed opportunities for early identification and treatment. Untreated lymphedema can lead to disfigurement, disability, and in some cases death. Early diagnosis and
treatment are crucial to improving outcomes for patients.
