What a Wonderful World - Annual Concert by the Chippewa Valley Community Chorus

The Chippewa Valley Community Chorus (CVCC) has been in existence for over 30 years. Based at the Heyde Center for the Arts, members of the chorus come from throughout the Chippewa Valley to participate under the direction of Cathy Reitz and accompanied by Anne Kubiatowicz. The Chorus holds rehearsals on Tuesday evenings beginning after the first of the year and performs in the early spring. This allows people to make a short-term commitment and still have a wonderful musical experience. The Chippewa Valley Youth Chorus will be participating in both concerts! The Stand in the Light Choir will be joining the Chorus for Sunday's concert! Admission: adults $10, seniors $9, and youth $4

B-Framed Galleries is hosting an exhibit of artwork by Abstract Expressionist painter, Nate Rylander from January 11th through March 13th in Downtown Eau Claire. “Action painting” can be seen in his artwork along with reclaimed materials such as hollow core doors. Inspired by several masters, we refer to Rylander as the Jackson Pollock of the Midwest with the influence being seen in several paintings.

Watercolor Artists to hold Annual Show and Sale at Beaver Creek Reserve

The Chippewa Valley Watercolor Artists will open its annual exhibit and sale beginning March 7 at the Wise Center at Beaver Creek Reserve located north of Fall Creek on Cty. Hwy. K.

An artist reception will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on March 10th in conjunction with Beaver Creek’s French Toast Breakfast. During the reception there will be free painting activities for children and drawings for artworks donated by the CVWA artists.

The show features work from 25 artists on subjects that range from flowers and landscapes to portraits and abstractions. A portion of all sales goes to Beaver Creek Reserve.

The show will remain until April 4th and can be viewed during open hours. The Reserve is open Mon. through Sat. 9 am to 4 pm and Sun. 12 pm to 4 pm. For more information call Beaver Creek Reserve at 715-877-2212

Shamrock Shuffle 5k: (all ages)
This 5k+ fun run/walk is hosted and sponsored by UW-Eau Claire’s University Recreation & Sport Facilities department. Our event takes place on March 10th, 2018 and is a great way to kick off your 5k season. The route starts on UW-Eau Claire’s upper campus, down the infamous Garfield Avenue hill, over the scenic university footbridge and follows the river up the beautiful Chippewa Valley River trail. The race is a loop that begins and ends at the McPhee Physical Education Center. Our race is open to any fitness level. Feeling competitive? We have a race clock at the finish line so you are able to time and track your personal progress. Interested in enjoying a scenic run or walk with friends? Enjoy the views at a comfortable pace. Strollers are welcome if you want to make this a fun event for the entire family!

Little Leprechaun 1k for Kids (ages 3-10)
The little Leprechaun 1k takes place behind McPhee Physical Education Center on a wooded nature loop. You can meet us at the starting line or walk with us at 8:50am if you are unsure of the location. UW Eau Claire’s Mascot, Blu, will be there to greet runners and cheer them on! Each child receives a race bib, t-shirt and a prize for participating! There will be snacks available to fuel up after the race!

Littlest Leprechaun .1k Toddle (walkers - 2)
This FREE event is for our littlest participants! Children can toddle, push a toy or hold their parents hand down one straight length on the McPhee Indoor Track! Each “racer” will receive an actual bib as a keepsake to commemorate their first ever individual fitness event! UW- Eau Claire’s Mascot, Blu, will be there to cheer them on! The event will end in time for them to be loaded into a stroller if guardians are planning on pushing them during the 5k event! This is a great opportunity for them to get the “wiggles out” prior to the 5k! Only 24 spots are available so register soon!
