2018 Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office Citizen Police Academy
The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office is proud to open the application process for the 2018 Citizen Police Academy. The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office-Citizens Police Academy program is designed to familiarize participants with various aspects of local law enforcement, such as administrative procedures, various police procedures, as well as guiding principles of law and conduct, which govern the delivery of police services. The goal of the Citizen Police Academy is not only to help local residents better understand police work in their community, but also to develop stronger ties between our community and the Sheriff’s Office. Community Based Policing is an important and vital aspect of crime control in a community. It is through community cooperation and planning that we can best ensure quality police services, in an organized effective crime prevention effort. The Citizen Police Academy is one mechanism for the Sheriff’s Office to improve communication and obtain citizen input, assistance and support, throughout the county. The 2018 Citizen Academy will consist of ten, weekly classes, which will begin Monday January 8th, 2018 and will end Monday March 12th, 2018. The classes will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. each week. The one exception will be a special scenario based class on Saturday March 10th. On that date the hours will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The academy classes will all be located at the Eau Claire County Government Center, 721 Oxford Ave Eau Claire Wisconsin. The exact room assignments will vary depending on the subject matter offered each week. The application process will run from October 9th, 2017 to December 29th, 2017. In order to be eligible to attend the academy, you must work in Eau Claire County or be a resident of Eau Claire County or any municipality within Eau Claire County, complete the application process, have no criminal record and be able to attend at least 9 of the eleven class sessions. Selected applicants must pass a background check and agree to sign a liability waiver in order to participate. This class session will be limited to 12 attendees, so apply early. "The Two Andersons" will feature works painted “en plein air” by Matt and Marc Anderson. Their collection of landscape paintings were created on location across Wisconsin. The Andersons, who are not related, do share a kinship in traditional oil painting as well as the inspirational and next-level artistic experience that is painting outdoors.

Join members of Clear Water Comedy, the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild, Downstage Left and Twig magazine for a spoken word workshop and writing session followed an open read and live performances in the V1 gallery. Get some feedback, work on your writing, and fine tune your spoken word skills in a friendly, no-pressure setting with guidance from experienced writers, poets, and comedians.

Gentle Yoga provides all the benefits of the yoga experience at a slower and steadier pace. It helps to reduce stress, feel strong yet flexible in your body and increase positive energy. This fall/winter session is led by Reserve member Karen Wise and will include instruction on how to do poses, breathing techniques and relaxation practice. Please dress in loose-fitting clothing, bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie on the floor and a water bottle. Purchase a 10 punch card – Friends $80, Nonmembers $100.
