(WEAU) - Kids were learning how to cook and eat healthy Monday night.
The Boys and Girls Club was hosting their Kids in the Kitchen program. The program teaches kids how to prepare a healthy meal on a budget.
It also teaches kids how to use a knife safely and how to cook while keeping everything sanitary.
The director says she hopes the lessons they're learning on nights like tonight carry on into adulthood. Youth Development Specialist Amanda Culman told us "if they learn early how to develop healthy habits hopefully they'll take that on to later in life when they're in college and cooking on their owe, they'll remember some of the things that we taught them here and be able to go to the store on their own and make those healthy choices."
On the menu Monday evening, the kids made a vegetable and beef stir fry with a strawberry and kiwi fruit salad and homemade granola bars.
