LA CROSSE, Wis (WEAU)-
One father and baby were inches away from death when a bullet was fired into their apartment in La Crosse, Saturday night.
Robert Long and was watching a football game with his 4 month old son Robert Jr. when someone fired a gun into their apartment, just missing the baby.
"I was sitting there watching football, my son playing with him up and down and then "POW" It was real close there was stuff all over my face and all over him,” said Long.
Long showed us where the .22 caliber bullet entered the room, went through a box and then ended up on the floor by the radiator. He says he tries not to think about what could have happened.
"Last night I was sitting there and looking at the hole and I was like, thank you Lord. Today I could be trying to bury my baby," said Long.
Police are still investigating and have no suspects in custody.
The bullet entered into the apartment from outside.
Robert Jr.'s mother Danelle Thomas says that she is still scared to sleep in the room where the shooting occurred. They plan to move out of the apartment and the south side neighborhood as soon as possible.
