(WEAU) - Students at Chippewa Valley Technical College got a sample of Native American culture.
The school hosted the American Indian Pow Wow exhibition Monday afternoon. The event featured the American Indian dance group Pipestone.
Diversity and equal opportunity specialist Mike Ojibway says the gathering helps dispel some stereotypes the public might have about Pow Wows. "A lot of people think they're not open to the public. They're very social gatherings, wide open to the public. So this gives us the chance to show them the intricate bead work, the feathers, the bustles, and also to teacher them about the different dance styles and what the significance is for those."
UW-Eau Claire will be hosting a Pow Wow this Saturday at Zorn Arena at 1 p.m. and at 7 p.m.
