(WEAU) – About 200 people went to the Marshfield Clinic on Craig Road to drop off more than 250 pounds of vitamins and other prescription drugs.
We're told one person even dropped off a cough medicine bottle from 1938. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends.
"The biggest thing we think is it keeps it out of ground water and keeps it away from children, who are able to use them improperly," said Pharmacy Manager, Bruce Bergmann.
Last fall in Wisconsin, more than 19,000 pounds of prescription meds were turned over to Wisconsin law enforcement and the d-e-a for safe disposal.
