Fired Up Pizza plans to give back

WEAU) - 20 investors of Fired Up Pizza are getting fired up about their new idea already under construction.

Investors have pledged to give more than half of their profits to community projects

"We hope to give 30 percent of the actual profit the first year and hope to go up to 30, 35 our goal is to get 51 percent back," said Mark Steil, the designer and an investor.

The "for profit" restaurant is next to MacMan on Keystone Crossing, and Mark Steil says it costs about 250 thousand dollars to get a business like this started.

"Concept was to build a money making business that could give back to the community," said Mark.

Investor and construction worker Michael Lawrence says he jumped at the chance because he wants to give back.

"I want to take my profits that I get and help have a scholarship so it'll help do some our of mission work that we do down in Juarez," said Michael Lawrence an investor and construction worker.

Executive Chef Laurel Robertson says she was asked in January to join the team and says the restaurant will feature a potential pizza of the month, along with 7-9 favorites.

"It’s nice to give back, it’s a wonderful place to live and to see grow as we move forward," said Laurel Robertson in a phone interview.

The design for Fired Up Pizza includes a wood burning oven bought from Naples, Italy, and it can cook pizzas in less than 2 minutes.

"We'll seat about 20 people on the ground floor, we have a second floor that will seat about 50 people and then we actually have a crow's nest, a third floor that will take another 12 people," said Mark.

Fired Up Pizza will open mid-May
