Firefighters donate stationary bikes to senior living homes

(WEAU) - Firefighters often save people in their moment of need. Now, they're keeping people healthy, without even being there.

The local Eau Claire Firefighters Union just donated two stationary bikes for people at two assisted living facilities. The "Airdyne" bikes we're given to senior living at Oakwood Hills, and Milestone Senior Living.

Community Director at Milestone Kelly Rivard says the fact that the firefighters donated two bikes is especially nice. “Now because we’re getting two bikes it’s going to be able to let them go ahead and visit. They’re going to be able to talk while they’re riding bikes and socialize, which is a big part of what milestone does,“ Rivard said.

One of the residents has already taken a liking to the bikes. Marie Quilling told us she “thinks it’s neat. It’s really nice. This will be a lot of fun.”

Eau Claire firefighters worked with the local YMCA to help donate the bikes.
