Firefighters wear pink to support fight against breast cancer

(WEAU) - Wearing pink is a big part of October as people bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer.

Starting Thursday, you can find Eau Claire firefighters wearing pink uniforms for the cause. It's part of 'Eau Claire Firefighters Care Enough to Wear Pink'. They even wore their pink proudly while conducting rescue training earlier Thursday.

Crews say they're selling the pink t-shirts for $10, with 100% of the proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Eau Claire Firefighters Union President Jeff Dykes told us they “think it’s important as firefighters, we go around and help the community in their time of need. This is just an opportunity for us to raise awareness for breast cancer, to help support our mothers, our grandmothers, our wives, sisters and daughters. To draw that awareness to the community and hopefully find a cure for this terrible disease.”

T-shirts can be purchased from Fire Station 9, which is located at 3611 Campus Road in Eau Claire after October 26. The cost of the shirt is $10.
