(WEAU) - For graduate student Paul Howell, the last semester of college wasn't spent relaxing or partying.
His time was spent working on a final project that would honor his brother, Alun Howells.
Paul Howell said, “I knew that I wanted to do something that related to memorializing the troops and those who have lost their lives in service to our country."
The idea for the website spawned another project he worked on over the summer.
It involved building special sculptures.
Howells also said, “After talking with my professor Kevin Pontuti at the beginning of the semester, I developed the idea to build the memorial and I've always been interested in 3D art and design."
Another professor who helped in the process was Ellery Connell.
Connell said, “He put a lot of heart and soul into it and I was proud to see him come out with something that worked so well in the end.
Howells added, “I just want to make sure that their sacrifices are never forgotten and that the families that are left behind will never be forgotten
Howells says the many sleep deprived hours spent working were well spent and he plans to continue the project.
Howells said, “I know if he was here right now, he would give me that nod and a a good smile."
