(WEAU) - Students at the Chippewa Valley Technical College will expect an improved program come fall of 2012.
Instructor Hans Mikelson said, "I think it’s beneficial. It gives the students more options. It gives them the ability to work in a new industry that we hadn't really addressed before."
The new design will include three programs that are focused on engineer technology. There will be a common core first year program and the second year will be specialization.
The Dean of Manufacturing, Mark Hendrickson said “The industrial engineering technology program will be focused on the food industry and the nanoengineering technology program will be focused on the microelectronics industry, biotechnology and materials.|
Mark Hendrickson also explained the developments of the third program saying, “The third one is in the process of developing and proposing to the state will be a manufacturing engineering technology and that will be focused around the plastics industry the metals industry.”
The gateway campus is where CVTC students can expect to be taking their core classes for the new addition.
While the program is adapting to the specialized jobs students will end up with after college, tuition won't get more expensive because of it.
Student Shelly Hanson said, "I think they're trying to update more with what's happening.|
The cost for the project is estimated to be a couple hundred thousand dollars.
