(WEAU) - A nurse at Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire was honored Wednesday for being exceptional.
Suzanne Brinkmeyer received the Daisy Award at a ceremony at the hospital. She was nominated for the national award by the daughter of a woman who passed away while in her care. The daughter says Brinkmeyer called her and let her talk to her mother one final time before she passed away.
The Daisy Award's co-founder says nurses are the unsung heroes of hospitals. Daisy Award Co-founder Bonnie Barnes says "they just do their jobs and they do them with such dedication and commitment and we feel that we all have to say thank you and to demonstrate to them how special they are to our community."
The Daisy award was created 12 years ago as a way to show gratitude to nurses.
