LA CROSSE, Wis (WEAU)-
The Packers got personal with their fans today as they kicked off their tailgate tour.
The five day journey travels all around Wisconsin, and they made a special appearance in La Crosse Tuesday night.
Approximately 1000 fans showed up to be entertained by current players like Jordy Nelson and Mason Crosby, and also former players like Larry McCarren and William Henderson.
The fans got to ask the players a couple questions at a Q & A before they started signing autographs. Some of the questions got personal.
“Some of the common questions are; is Jordy Nelson married? Will Jordy go on a date with me? Or will you go out and party tonight?” said William Henderson.
The players seemed to be enjoying themselves at the tailgate and wanted to make sure that their fans knew how much they appreciate them.
“I got to La Crosse and everyone was so welcoming and excited. I’m really looking forward to signing autographs and talking to people,” said Mason Crosby.
“The vibe here is amazing. These are ultimate packer fans through and through. They show their love and support, and we’re here to make sure that they know that we appreciate them” said Henderson.
The tour visited a couple schools before they stopped at La Crosse. It was at the schools that Henderson took to opportunity to talk about more than just football. He addressed the issue of bullying, and confessed that he had been bullied himself as a kid.
“I was often bullied because I didn’t take the easy way out. The way that would’ve led me to not be as successful or respected. Communities need to take the opportunity to support that person and pick them up,” said Henderson.
The tailgate raised more than 30 thousand dollars in La Crosse. All of the money will be donated to the Children of the Heart foundation.
Crosby did mention that he’s excited for the new season and hopes that the team can redeem themselves from their tough loss to the Giants last year.
