(WEAU) - A special run was held in Eau Claire Wednesday night to help spread awareness of human trafficking in third world countries.
The 5th Annual Justice Run happened at Owen Park. About 700 runners were able to take part in a 5 mile run-walk, a 2 mile run-walk or a half mile children's run/walk.
Organizers say it's a way to help educate people on how to make a difference. Race Director Jessie Podolak says "There's a lot of things that an everyday Eau Claire citizen can do to fight human trafficking, and slavery that we might never have thought of until you come to an event like this.”
All $22,000 raised will go to International Justice Mission, an organization that fights human trafficking.
