(WEAU) - The student run organization, the FCCLA performed Bully Dancers about one dance troupes the ‘The Zodiacs’ versus another dance troupe called the ‘The Scorpions.’
Student director, Jeremy Steinmetz, found the play online and thought it would help students.
“I thought when we put this play together it really implemented the kids well into the play,” said Student Director, Jeremy Steinmetz.
Stanley-Boyd High School students part of FCCLA got to demonstrate what its like to be bullied to not only the Elementary School but also the Middle School
Through seeing it firsthand, Middle School and Elementary students got a better perspective on the issue of bullying. The play by Frank Gibbons showed both physical bullying and verbal.
"I felt it took a stand on a really important subject and its going help a lot of kids understand that," said student, Liam Hammett Hayes.
Even parents can see how it may help their child whether they're a bully or victim.
"I'm really impressed. I feel our group of teenagers up at the school with their different organizations, they really care about our community and try to be good role models for the little kids,” Lia Campbell, mother of two children at Stanley-Boyd Elementary School.
In the grand scheme of things, FCCLA Advisor Kari Thorpe has noticed a need to shine a light on bullying at the district.
“It is an issue; I can see it in the classroom. Kids don’t realize their bullying, just their little remarks on the side,” said FCCLA Advisor, Kari Thorpe.
“I think if were setting the good demonstration now that will be good for the future of the kids at Stanley,” said Steinmetz.
