La Crosse (WEAU) -
While discussing the topic of birth control Rush Limbaugh ended up calling law student Sandra Fluke, inappropriate names.
He apologized both on air and in a statement, admitting that he had crossed a line.
“Those two words were inappropriate, they were uncalled for, and they distracted from the point I was trying to make. Again I sincerely apologize to Miss Fluke for using those two words to describe her," said Limbaugh.
Though many question his sincerity.
“He did it in typical Rush fashion. Which is to say I’m sorry…but. Then he offered justification fro his behavior.” said Scott Robert Shaw, WIZM Program Director.
Shaw also said he believes that this time Rush had gone too far.
“Rush has a history for the outrageous. That's what makes his show interestimg. I do think in this case he crossed a line," said Shaw.
On WIZM Radio's facebook page many listeners have asked for the Limbaugh program to be pulled from the air waves.
Two radio stations have already dropped Rush Limbaugh’s program.
Local radio station WIZM based out of La Crosse said they are not going to be canceling the Rush Limbaugh program.
“Right now from 11-2 that’s the Rush Limbaugh program. A lot of people love Rush Limbaugh, and he’s had great success," said Shaw.
Shaw said he has not had any complaints from advertisers at the local level, and none have asked to pull their ads from the program.
