Rush of slush in Rice Lake

(WEAU) - Snow apocalypse? Well maybe not. But a foot of snow is the most Rice Lake has seen all year.

“It keeps accumulating, we can't keep up, trying to, but its just lots and lots of snow,” said snowplow driver, David Hill.

David says the plows have been out since 11 o clock Tuesday night working to clean the roads.

“It’s kind of amazing, we expected it to quit snowing like 4am then start like 8, 9 in the morning and it hasn't really let up at all,” said Hill.

Yet no matter how clean roads may be, neighborhoods are still a concern to people.

"My wife got out of the driveway before the city come and leave their fine little present for us, so now it's a chore of removing that wet heavy snow," said Paul Fretz, frustrated with the mounds of snow.

While mounds of snow at the end of the driveway are a pain, some kids enjoyed having a day off from school.

"We built a snowman and then we just kicked it down. My brother built a big snowball over there, its really big," said 12-year old Sheldon Ferguson.

While its great snow for a snowball, its not great snow to be shoveling your driveway or be driving to work in.

Wednesday morning Michael Lew's father received a white gift on his driveway and its not even Christmas.

“He woke up at 5:30am and had to drive to Ladysmith, came out and there was so much snow he had to get his four wheeler out,” said Michael Lew.

“I'm one that likes snow at Christmas time and for the holidays and hunting season, but now that's all gone, snow can go away,” said Fretz.
