EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. (WEAU) - Storm cleanup efforts continued in the Shawtown neighborhood in western Eau Claire Friday, where trees pummeled homes and powerlines dropped.

The day after high winds ripped through the area, neighbors were still discovering new damages and picked up what the storm left behind.

"This big tree came flying down and smashed into my vehicles, top of my garage, went in through the garage," Tamara Ogren said.

Ogren lost more than most at her Ferry Street home.

"My vehicle is totalled, my garage is totalled," she said.

Ogren said she found out Friday afternoon that her insurance will not cover the damages.

Sara Candell said she heard power poles falling, but didn't hear the large tree crashing into her home.

"It's pretty shocking to see a tree 4 feet into the roof of your house," Candell said. "We have a crane coming in to lift the tree off the house, because it's too heavy to be cut."

But even those still suffering in the storm's aftermath said they could see a silver lining.

"No one was hurt, so that's what matters, the house can be fixed," Candell said.

"We are fortunate that we are ok. We've lost a lot of stuff, but you know what? That's material so it's ok," Ogren said.

Candell said her husband reminded her Friday that he wanted to cut that tree down years ago, but instead, they spent their tenth wedding anniversary picking up debris.
