EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The friends and family of a young woman who passed away say a fundraiser they held in her memory was successful.
Kersten Greene's friends and family held a special thrift sale last week to fund a scholarship in her memory.
The sale raised over $700 which will go to the Kersten Greene Memorial Hockey Scholarship Fund to help kids in Eau Claire stay involved in hockey.
Kersten died back in April of 2011.
She was a former hockey player for the ECA Stars and went to UW-River Falls.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Friends and family of a young woman who passed away last year are holding a special thrift sale to fund a scholarship in her memory.
Kersten Greene died back in April of 2011.
She was a former hockey player for the ECA Stars and went to school at UW-River Falls.
The money raised during the thrift sale will go to the Kersten Greene Memorial Hockey Scholarship Fund which helps kids in Eau Claire stay involved in hockey.
"It can get really expensive with the equipment and the fees and whatever and some people just don't have the money, especially with this economy,” says Kersten’s mother Tori Patrow.
If you’d like to check out the sale, it runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 515 Fountain Street on the west side of Eau Claire.
