(WEAU) - About 80 Boy Scouts made their way to the Third Annual Youth aviation adventure to earn their "Aviation Merit" badges.
Kids and scouts from all over came to take part in twelve different stations at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport.
The kids learned about pre-flight, the operations of an airport as well how power plant instruments work.
The Coordinator says it’s important to get the 12 to 18 year olds behind the fence and see things firsthand.
"One important thing they should know about it is down the road there’s a lot of jobs available in the aviation industry, in fact were looking at a pilot shortage right now because there's so many retired," said Jack Fay Coordinator.
This is the 6th of 24 different airports in the country that has this program for kids and WEAU is a proud sponsor for this event.
