(WEAU) - The National Weather Service said it tracked a Doppler indicated tornado late Wednesday night in Buffalo County, near Alma.
The Emergency Management Department said there was a tornado warning issued, but no reports of an actual tornado touched down.
"It was scary, I would say a little scary," said Julie Dawson, whose house was damaged by the storm.
Julie Dawson says she got a phone call from her neighbor at her Montana home around 10:30pm saying a tornado warning was issued.
She then gathered her family and dogs to take shelter in her barn, but not before being pelted with hail.
"I still have welts and bruises on my body and welts on my head from going to get my baby horse," said Dawson.
The Emergency Management Department says the area also got hit with extreme rain and wind. It knocked down trees and power lines causing hazardous road conditions.
"According to a report from the Sheriff's Department and Highway Department, main damage was with regards to roadways," said Jen Rombalski, Emergency Department Management.
Mounds of hail remained on the ground Thursday and were about the size of a quarter.
Julie's home is left with large dents and cracks on all four sides. The hail even damaged her cars, which cracked the windshield.
"I'm thankful we're all safe, you know we have damage, property damage, we're insured so that's always a good thing," said Dawson.
Despite muddy conditions along County Road E, community members said they were glad the storm wasn't any worse.
"You need to stay a-tuned to the weather conditions and residents can just you know protect themselves they need to be in a safe area, to not be traveling on the roads during storms like that," said Rombalski.
The Buffalo County Emergency Management says no one was hurt from the storm.
