I am nominating my mom for the Sunshine Award. While everyone learns and grows from their parents my mom seems to do an especially good job at adapting to how to be an amazing mother as I move through my life and get older. I recently moved back from Arizona after attending college out there and my mom has welcomed me back with open arms. It puts a huge financial strain on her as I search for a job but at the same time she maintains a positive attitude and does nothing but continuously help me. My mom spends almost 60 hours a week working on weeks that she doesn't travel to continue to provide a wonderful life for me. She has been knocked down and has shown persistent strength through life's challenges. While maintaining a level head, a good job, she also finds the time to help out more than just me. She has provided an entire Christmas for my sister and her family for the past couple of years and selflessly asks for nothing while relentlessly giving. She helps keep us all entertained with her unique personality and sense of humor. She keeps us all laughing even in the darkest times. She has shown me that where there's a will, there's a way and that no matter how hard you work, you can constantly move forward in life. She has always provided a network of support, even if she is unavailable she understands and opens my eyes to different resources. My mom has recently lost weight and quit smoking which has done nothing but a frustrating battle but continues to keep a positive attitude and work hard at accomplishing two very hard goals to better her life. She makes me proud and I truly hope to be half the woman she is someday. Her heart is as big as her brain and she is absolutely wonderful to be around. She goes the extra mile for as many people as she can while also setting the bar high for herself and continues to better herself while also bettering everyone around her. She has been a great mother to me and my sister who are polar opposites which show that she can be an outstanding mother in every situation while helping us grow and become more like her. She helps my grandma out and does so many things for every member of the family. Even in the darkest times she truly outshines them all and continues to push us all to better ourselves.
