Tyler joined the WEAU team in August, 2016.
He currently sits beside Courtney Everett at the desk co-anchoring the morning show ‘Hello Wisconsin’. Tyler’s love of mornings dates back to his childhood, growing up on a farm just outside of Madison, Wis. Tyler was always the first to wake inside the farm house, determined to never waste a day.
After graduating from Columbus High School in Columbus, Wis., Tyler accepted a football scholarship at Southwest Minnesota State University, a Division 2 university in Marshall, Minn. After completing his fifth year of football eligibility, and graduating with a degree in Speech Communication, Tyler started his broadcast journalism career in Great Falls, Montana as morning anchor and reporter.
One year later, Tyler moved back to the Midwest in 2011 working at KIMT-TV in Mason City, IA as a morning and noon news anchor. His work has been recognized by the Iowa Broadcaster’s Association and by the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television. During his five years in Iowa, Tyler married his wife, Kristine, and welcomed two boys to his family.
The family of four is excited to be back in Tyler’s home state and loves to be outside! They’re also a huge sports family. You’ll see them cheering on the Brewers, Badgers, Wild, and of course, the Packers! Tyler is a big football fan and was an assistant high school varsity football coach for three years in Iowa.
The Mickelson’s are looking forward to being active in the community. Don’t be afraid to say "Hello!"
