Northern Wisconsin Center is seeking a talented individual to fill a Teacher vacancy. This position is located at the Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS); Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled (NWC) in Chippewa Falls, WI.

This position works a part-time, 60% FTE schedule, but may be expected to work additional hours as needed.

Add-on pay up to an additional $2.97 per hour is available for relevant credits that are above those required for certification.

The teacher will complete functional and standardized assessments, develop individual education plans and provide classroom instruction for students with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Work is performed under limited supervision of the Deputy Institution Superintendent. Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

The Teacher position has a mandatory licensure requirement. In order to be minimally qualified, the incumbent must be certified or eligible for certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for certification #1810 - Cognitive Disabilities or #1801 - Cross-categorical Special Education.

In addition to the licensure requirement, a minimally qualified applicant will also have:
•Experience using specialized teaching techniques and various teaching methods to promote learning, including assessing students to determine appropriate educational plans.
•Experience developing Postsecondary Transition Plans (PTP).
•Strong oral and written communication skills.

A well-qualified applicant will also have:
•Experience organizing a classroom environment to promote learning in an alternative school setting.
•Experience successfully communicating with and providing instruction to dually diagnosed students, including students with autism and behavioral challenges.
