This position will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and operation of safety programs at our industrial sand facility. This position will work under the supervision of the Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment; but will require taking direction from other Smart Sand managers. This position is based primarily at our Oakdale, WI facility. This position may require minimal travel within the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Arrange regular training for all mine employees that both exceed MSHA requirements and, more importantly, keep all miners conscious of safety issues.
Assist during planned or unplanned MSHA visits.
Leads the 1st Responder team by scheduling the meetings and activities, planning and leading the Plant drills, and maintaining ISO and MSHA Compliance.
Maintain and update the onsite Emergency Response Plan.
Maintain the chemical database onsite.
Maintain SDS books; assist in training miners on all new chemicals onsite.
Lead safety meetings.
Maintain first aid kits by working with the Purchasing Agent to keep kits current and stocked.
Works closely with the Plant management on safety issues and other problems.
Attends industry events, MSHA events and seeks relevant safety training as applicable.
Maintains all safety documentation.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Demonstrates constant commitment to safety, professional behavior, and environmental considerations.
Maintains a respectful environment and is involved with work teams on specific projects.
Works cooperatively to comply with facility-wide environmental and quality management systems.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
MSHA training and experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with Microsoft Office programs required.
Excellent leadership and people skills.
Good judgment is required.
Must be adaptable and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail is required.
