Position Overview:
The General Laborer will perform labor duties assigned, such as, digging by hand, lifting , holding, pushing and other manual labor needed for the installation of underground broadband and power cables or other buried utilities, such as, sewer and water lines and site utility work in a construction environment as necessary for commercial or residential construction projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Assist crew lead and/or other team members in completion of construction work.
Assist with the handling and placement of conduit, cables, pipe, and other buried product.
Maintain equipment as necessary and according to safety specifications.
Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
Load/unload equipment, tools, and materials.
Digging and Spinning Reels.
Identify ways of continuous improvement of processes and procedures that will elevate the company, as a whole.
All other duties as assigned.

Punctual and dependable with regard to attendance.
Follows all company procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
Focused on job performance and productivity with minimal distractions, such as, cell phone usage.
Retention and care of tools assigned (shovels, rakes, chain, etc.).
Respectful of others, including team members, supervisors, and customers.

Physical and Environmental Factors:
Ability to work in outside weather conditions.
Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.
Ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs., at a minimum.
100% Travel.

Education and/or Experience:
High school graduate or GED certificate.

Work Experience:
Experience working with hand tools, such as, shovels, rakes, etc. In addition, previous experience working with a team in a general labor atmosphere, preferred, but not required.

Industry Knowledge:
General knowledge of Utility Construction Procedures preferred but not required. Technical School in any of trades preferred, but not required. In addition, have knowledge of or be familiar with all procedures and associated hand tools and equipment necessary to install underground utilities preferred, but not required.

Valid Driver’s License.
High School Diploma or GED.
Positive Attitude.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to learn and take initiative.
Ability to work in outside weather conditions.
Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.
Ability to use hand tools daily.
Ability to maintain equipment and hand tools.
Proficiency in the handling/placement of conduit and cables

Must be able to pass pre-employment screening.
