Job Description

Chippewa County is currently accepting applications for open Operator I – Seasonal positions within the Highway Department.

The job duties of the entry level Operator I include but are not limited to: provide highway/bridge maintenance & construction, construction & maintenance materials handling, sand & gravel mining activities, and highway facilities maintenance. An Operator I may be assigned, initially, to only one area, however, as length of service increases, an Operator I will be expected to perform work in other areas as needed. Winter maintenance activities may be required for this position. This is a limited term, seasonal employment opportunity that is an average of 40 hours per week from August through November.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Additional training in the trades may be preferred such as ability to read plans and handle hand tools. One (1) year experience in heavy equipment operation on a periodic basis such as a grader, loaders, municipal plow trucks, forklift and tractors required. Road maintenance experience required. Wage:
$17.00 - $18.16 per hour depending on qualifications. This is a non-benefited position.
