EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Hello Wisconsin helped viewers jumpstart their day in an artsy way as a local event has kicked off, introducing families into the world of wood art.

Local artist, Mark Palma of the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild joined the show live all morning long to share his passion for the hobby.

He says, “I am an amateur woodturner who has been doing this as a hobby for 10 years. I have had a few articles published in this area in woodturning magazines. I am a professional in my day job and i do this solely for fun.”

He shared a little history about the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild and how it’s been in existence about 7 years. It has about 85-90 members who come from throughout Western Wisconsin.

If you are interested in seeing the talent up close and personal, families can venture out to the Carvers and Woodturners Exhibit from June 21st to July 13th at the Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls.

A reception will be held on the 23rd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm to meet and talk with the artists. The event is free, and cookies and punch are usually served.
