EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- "It's the people and the energy. I like playing for a large crowd," Darton Weaver, a Junior NHS band member, said.

"Jazz can be in your face, but sometimes it's modern and chill," fellow Junior Jasmine Rosario added.

The Jazz Band is taking a type of music they love and turning it into an audibly enjoyable fundraiser.

"The Big Band Bash has been happening for 36 years and it's our biggest fundraiser for NHS parents," NHS Band Instructor Jason Soules explained.

In addition to great music, Friday’s Big Band Bash will include raffles, silent auction, food and drinks. The money raised is used for the entire school year.

"It will help us get new instruments and equipment for the band room" Junior student Alex Holec said..

The department is also trying to raise funds for a recording studio, meals for parades, and assistance with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade trip.

If you’re on the fence about going, Senior Nahara Lartey explains it well. "There will be big band music, and some modern stuff. It’s a gig for everyone."

Nels Gilbertson-Urtel will be the special guest performer.

Everything gets started Friday (5/18) Night at North High School at 6:30 pm. Admission is $10/adults and $5/student.
