24-year old man arrested after hit and run with squad car

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A 24-year old man was arrested early Thursday morning after a hit and run with a police squad car.

According to the Eau Claire Police Department, at 1:51 a.m., an officer was on patrol in a fully marked Eau Claire Police Department patrol squad traveling southbound on S. Hastings Way when Brett Alan Hrdlicka crashed into the rear of the officer’s squad.

Hrdlicka, who was driving a Pontiac Grand Am, crashed then passed the squad and left the scene of the crash.

The officer identified the license plate on the car and additional officers later located it in the Kwik Trip lot on Brackett Avenue. Hdrlicka’s car had heavy front end damage.

Hdrlicka was arrested on suspicion of a 2nd OWI offense and a hit and run causing injury.

The officer involved in the crash received minor injuries.
