OWEN, Wis. (WEAU)-- Deputies have released the name of the teenager killed in a farm accident in Clark County.

He was identified Friday as Jonas Hoover, 16.

The accident happened just before 10 Wednesday morning in the Town of Hixon, which is northwest of Owen.

Deputies say Hoover was spreading manure in a field and had emptied the manure tank he was pulling. They believe he then went into the manure tank for a maintenance issue. He was found unconscious in the tank after being inside for an unknown amount of time.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says it has learned the manure tank was malfunctioning and a piece of metal was found near the agitating valve, causing the spray pattern to be affected.

Hoover was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
