Friends worried about mom now missing 1 month

PLOVER, Wis. (WSAW) -- It's now been almost one month since 44-year-old Krista Sypher of Plover, Wisconsin was reported missing.

The Plover Police Department has stated she was last seen March 13. She was reported missing by her husband seven days later, on March 20.

Her vehicle was found at her home, and her cell phone has not been seen since her disappearance.

Amber Haferman has been friends with Sypher for almost 17 years.

"Krista is a wonderfully social person. When she walks in a room, you know she's in the room based on her voice and her personality," Haferman said.

She said Sypher is loyal to those she loves.

"She is very generous," she said. "She will do anything for her family, friends, and her kids."

She admits however, that the last month has been tough on those who know her.

"It's been rough trying to figure out what happened to her. Where she went... if she left on her own or if something else happened. We're worried about her. We want her back," Haferman said.

Plover Police Captain Gary Widder said his department is still searching for answers, too.

"We're going through prior weeks of investigations, and making sure that all the documentation, all of the files are put together, all the reports are put together. We're sifting through those. We're coming up with extra questions, follow-up questions that we're going to have for different people," Widder said.

Officers were back in Sypher's neighborhood Wednesday, talking with neighbors about anything they may have seen or heard.

Widder said this case has been tough on investigators as time goes on.

"The logical sense is, this may not have a very good outcome. We're still hopeful she comes back if she walked away on her own," he said. "At this point, we're not approaching it from that standpoint."

The department has stated that they are not aware of any issues between Sypher and her husband, and have not responded to any domestic calls to the residence. Sypher's husband has spoken with police.

Widder said the department will continue to work until they can find Sypher.

"We're not going to stop until we have some answers," Widder said.

If you have any information about Krista's whereabouts, you're asked to contact detectives Mike Tracy or Brian Noel at (715) 345-5255.
