WASHINGTON (WEAU) -- Sen. Tammy Baldwin says the Jason Simcakoski Memorial Opioid Safety Act is saving lives.
She made those comments while hosting a roundtable discussion to address the opioid crisis and quality pain care for veterans in Washington D.C.
Baldwin, along with the Simcakoski Family, officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs and other veteran organizations discussed the VA’s progress in addressing opioid prescribing practices, the critical health care needs of veterans that congress should focus on in the upcoming year and how to realize the goals of Jason's Law.
"It's not Republicans and Democrats. We're all one. We have to stand together and make things right for our veterans who put their lives' at risk for us every day and now we have to return the favor back to them,” said Marv Simcakoski.
The Jason Simcakoski act was passed in July of 2015.
