Blugolds participate in "UW meets EC"

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Blugold students received a first-hand look of Eau Claire. The fifth annual "UW meets EC" event took place Friday evening.

Students took shuttles from Towers Hall to Phoenix Park market pavilion where they began their walking tour. A map of the walking route included stops at Barstow Street, Owen Park for music, and then back to campus.

Organizers say it's a great introduction to the community for all the new students.

Student Services Coordinator at UW-Eau Claire Nicole Rindone says, “Students can see the relationship we have with the community and kind of get civically involved. We have so many opportunities for service learning, which is a requirement for our students down here, downtown employment opportunities, so it's a great way for them to see that in a fun environment.

Organizers say more than 80 businesses participated in this year's event.
