Body of missing Prentice man found

PRENTICE, Wis. (RELEASE) -- Price County Sheriff Brian Schmidt reports on August 11, 2016 at 8:32 p.m. the Price County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Town of Prentice resident reporting her 80 year old husband had gone blackberry picking earlier in the afternoon and had not returned home.

The husband’s vehicle was located down the road from the residence in a rural area. An immediate search of the area was conducted and the subject was not located.

Personnel from the Price County Sheriff’s Office, Prentice Fire Department, Prentice Ambulance Service, Ogema Fire Department, Catawba Fire Department, Kennan Fire Department, Phillips Fire Department, Fifield Fire Department, Pike Lake Fire Department, Hawkins Fire Department, Park Falls Fire Department, Westboro Fire Department, Rib Lake Fire Department, Tomahawk Fire Department, Barron County Sheriff’s Office, and K-9 handlers from Sawyer County Search & Rescue responded to the scene to continue the search for the victim.

The victim was found deceased at about 8:40 a.m. on August 12, 2016.

The incident remains under investigation by the Price County Sheriff’s Office and the Price County Coroner.

No foul play is suspected.
