CUTE ALERT: Sparta officer rescues baby squirrel

SPARTA, Wis. (WEAU) -- Now to an unusual rescue story out of Sparta: the Sparta Police Department says it received a call about an injured squirrel on north Water Street

While the department says they don't typically deal with these situations, an officer responded and found a baby squirrel shivering cold with what looked like a broken leg. While shy at first, the little guy soon cuddled up in the officer's hand

Then after some phone calls, a nearby facility was found to nurse the baby squirrel back to health.
