EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- An Energy Open House is underway at a local college.

Community members are able to tour the Energy Education Center at the Chippewa Valley Technical College's west campus off Highway 312 in Eau Claire.

The center displays several energy-efficient features including geothermal heating and cooling system. The event also highlights programs offered in the energy-related fields. Prospective students can talk with CVTC instructors and current students about the programs and job opportunities in the field.

“It's really important that they can come out here they can get to talk to people and get really excited to know there's a true future out there and they can feel confident moving forward with their career choice,” said Adam Wehling, CVTC Dean of Agriculture and Energy.

The Energy Open House is free and runs until 7 p.m. Thursday.
