EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation hosted a public meeting discussing the Clairemont Avenue/ U.S. 12 construction project in Eau Claire.

Community members attending the open house at the Clarion Hotel received more information about the timeline of the project and the impact it will have on traffic.

The project includes pavement repair and replacement, beam guard, signing, and pavement marking on Clairemont Avenue between Highway 312 and Craig Road.

"The pavement joints where the pavement lanes meet is in poor shape so they're falling apart and beyond fixing so we're fixing those areas that are really poor. Plus, curb and gutter, left turn and some concrete sidewalk is beyond fixing and needs to be repaired and replaced," said Project Manager Matt Pfeifer.

The improvement project on Clairemont Avenue is set to start Thursday, April 27th with construction scheduled for completion in October.
