EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Visitors traveling on Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads now have access to more information on those roads than ever before.

The 2016 Rustic Road Guide has been turned into an interactive guide that highlights historic markers, native plants and both hiking and biking trails.

The Rustic Roads Program in Wisconsin started over 40 years ago and contains trails ranging from less than a mile to 37 miles. The Rustic Roads Program has expanded to 720 miles over the years, spanning through 59 counties.

Wisconsin contains 119 Rustic Roads that allow visitors to enjoy a relaxed ride in the country.

Visitors on the Rustic Roads are encouraged to share their photos by using #RusticRoads or @WisconsinDOT in social media posts and enter them into contests, which may end up in the Rustic Roads Guide.

Bikers are encouraged to take part in the Rustic Roads Motorcycle Tour program. Bikers can travel the roads to gain a Rustic Roads Motorcycle Tour patch and a special state certificate.
