Dem. candidate for Wisconsin governor starts petition against Foxconn deal

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Democratic candidate for Wisconsin governor Bob Harlow is urging the Wisconsin Senate to vote no on any Foxconn incentive packages

Last Wednesday Harlow introduced a petition to stop the deal.

He says the goal for the petition is to have one thousand signatures. Right now they have around 500 signatures.

The $10 billion investment to build Foxconn in Wisconsin will result in around 13,000.

However Harlow says the Foxconn deal will not benefit Wisconsin.

“We have some of the finest universities in the world and a public with a tremendous capacity for innovation. We don't need to pay some Taiwanese company to create jobs for us, instead we ought to invest in Wisconsin and make sure the next 3M or Harley Davidson starts right here in Wisconsin,” said Harlow.

WEAU reached out to Governor Scott Walker's office but have yet to hear back.
