Distribution center construction ahead of schedule

The Chippewa Falls City Council received a construction update Tuesday on the Mills Fleet Farm distribution center going in the Lake Wissota business park.

Ryan Companies, the contractor for the project, says construction is two to three weeks ahead of schedule.

Officials with the company said the steel roof structure is halfway done and parking lot paving is underway. Interior slabs are scheduled to be poured early next month and they hope to start receiving products in January.

The $1.1 million square-foot distribution center plans to hire 325 employees.
