Duffy hosts drug roundtable discussion in Wausau

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- Leaders at the local, state, and federal levels attended a roundtable discussion focused on drug abuse.

Rep. Sean Duffy from Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional district hosted the event at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. Duffy and other panel participants say there are different ways to address the issues with opioid and meth – one way being changing the way people view drugs.

Duffy said more money and resources for treatment are needed.

"Which is trying to deal with the demand side,” he said. “But also, we have to deal with the supply of the drugs coming in."

Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks said he hopes more funding can be made available to help law enforcement better tackle the epidemic.
